A 466 year old forearm is not usually what comes to mind when thinking about the attractions of Vancouver.
Perhaps a funky little brunch joint, a new ride to the Pacific National Exhibition, or even a new musical. But an arm of a Saint that hasn’t decayed in almost a quincentenary? Not so common.
Saint Francis Xavier, a Roman Catholic Missionary, was born on April 7th, 1506. He spent a majority of his life as a Papal Nuncio — a diplomat who resides in another country to represent the church — throughout Asia until his death in 1552.
He was one of the founders of the Jesuit order, a educational religious congregation dedicated to the Catholic Church.

The forearm is currently in the middle of a cross-country tour, travelling across 14 cities in order to give people to chance to view this incredible relic. His arm alone baptized over 100,000 people in his lifetime, and has not decayed since his death.
Xavier’s arm is coming to Coquitlam January 24th and 25th, 2018. More dates and information can be found here.
