Archie and Friends Coming To Vancouver

The pilot for the CW’s Riverdale films is in Vancouver this March, bringing Archie Comics cartoonish characters and small comic-book town to life. The darker adaptation strays from the ‘wholesome’ 1950’s neighbourhood image and explores the surrealism behind the town and characters in the present day.

After months of searching, 18-year-old newcomer KJ Apa from Auckland has been cast as Archie. Cole Sprouse (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) plays Jughead and Luke Perry (90120) plays Archie’s father Fred Andrews. While Veronica is still uncast, Betty will be played by Lil Reinhart who appeared in Fox’s short-lived comedy series Surviving Jack. Ashleigh Murray will play lead singer Josie in the band Josie and the Pussycats.

Producer Greg Berlanti already has success with other live-action series Arrow, The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow which all also air on the CW.
