Need a job? Amazon will be hiring, soon.
One of the world’s biggest online marketplaces is making its first foray into Canada, and the company has chosen Vancouver for a new web development centre. According to Amazons job page, the company is hiring for 10 jobs locally, including several software development engineers.
The retailing giant hypes our city up on its website, noting Vancouver “consistently ranks as one of the cities with the best quality of living in the world,” which suggests the company may be targeting outsiders willing to relocate as much as it’s seeking Vancouverites. If true, it could mean Amazon hopes to make the Vancouver office a serious base for development in Canada, pulling in talent from across North America which further hints future jobs!
Amazon’s confident investment in Vancouver is expected to not only help boom our tech industry but also be a major corporate leader and draw more attraction to the city.
The development centre is slated to open in mid March, and will “initially focus on helping to develop tools and applications that enable all Amazon engineers to deliver the best, most scalable and efficient technologies.”
