Two lone kayaks were found in Coquitlam River Saturday evening, causing a scare in the community.
The initial kayak was discovered by a group of fishermen, close to the Kingsway crossing in Port Coquitlam.

They alerted the authorities, who responded immediately and soon found the second kayak after.
Coquitlam search and rescue was activated by the RCMP, as well as RCMP Air 1. 20 members were sent out, as well as Talon Helicopters, in order to try and retrieve any lost paddlers.
The second kayak was found pinned to a rock, largely because of the high water levels that the Coquitlam River held.
Coquitlam SAR is in the process of recovering two kayaks and paddles from the Coquitlam river.

Coquitlam Search and Rescue tweeted out that the type of kayaks that were found are not meant for swift water, and are intended for flat water.
It's been pointed out by our members and many of the public that these kayaks are not swift water boats and are meant for flat water.
We'd like to stress than nobody is in trouble and we'd just like to know the story and return the boats to their owner.

The case has since been closed. The RCMP believes that there is nothing to be worried about.
The main concern is regarding everyones safety, and the return of the paddler’s boats.
