Man Arrested For Reportedly Vandalizing Over 100 Cars In Coquitlam

A Coquitlam man is in custody after being charged with multiple counts of vandalism.

The alleged vandalism series includes spray painting buildings, vehicles scratched with keys, and tire slashing. In total, more than 100 vehicles or buildings were damaged.

‘We are very sympathetic to the tremendous amount of hassle and expense this has been for the victims,’ says Corporal Michael McLaughlin with the Coquitlam RCMP. “We really appreciate the cooperation and patience we’ve had from the community as we identified a suspect.”

Most of the damage to vehicles and buildings occurred over a three-day period between January 24, 2018, and when the suspect was arrested on January 26, 2018. The 37 year old suspect is in custody and appeared in court on Tuesday, January 30th. He faces faces five counts of mischief under $5000, as well as 15 counts of fail to comply with recognizance.

Coquitlam RCMP is actively investigating potential links between this recent vandalism and similar crimes that stretch back to December, 2017.
