The original Pink Shirt Day initiative started years ago in Nova Scotia when a Grade 9 boy was bullied for wearing pink. A group of boys weren’t having any of it and later took a stand by handing out and wearing pink tank tops.
So now every year across the country thousands wear pink on #PinkShirtDay to take a united stand against bullying. If words are a tool for bullying then they must also be a tool for ending it, so choose kindness and spread it.
Vancouverites are choosing kindness, what about you?
You can wear your own pink shirt or pick up an official Pink Shirt Day t-shirt available online and at London Drugs. Proceeds benefit the CKNW Orphan’s Fund in support of various anti-bullying programs.
Rock your pink attire and share it with #PinkShirtDay or spread positive messages on social media with #PinkShirtPromise.
