Spend the Holidays at the Vancouver Aquarium

Although we have been pretty lucky with our weather so far, there are some places where Vancouverites can escape the rain and still enjoy the holidays. While the Vancouver Aquarium may not be the first place you think of when you think Christmas, the Aquarium does a lot of fun holiday things for the entire family.

Spend the Holidays at the Vancouver Aquarium

Running from November 27 to January 4, you and your family or friends are able to go celebrate the holidays with all of the aquatic friends that live here. When you first walk in, you are able to walk through a Christmas tree. You will also find a Christmas tree on the lower floor (near the frogs) which is made from materials taken out of the ocean, such as crocs and buoys.

Once you check out the maze of Christmas trees, the kids are able to write a letter to Scuba Claus, disclosing what they want most for Christmas. After the kids write their letters, they are able to watch Scuba Claus dive with fish from the Strait of Georgia, also located on the lower floor. However, make sure you get here early as Scuba Claus makes a dive at 11:30am daily.

If you want to take a break from the marine life, Santa’s helpers can be found upstairs where kids can make their own crafts or get their face painted. They can chose from the marine life found at the aquarium.

Vancouver showers always let up eventually, and when they do, make sure you check out the Penguins, otters and beluga whale to make you feel as if you are in the North Pole. There are shows outdoors daily, make sure you check out the board inside for times.

When you start to bring your day to a close, make sure you check out the 4-D experience of The Polar Express. Not only will you be able to watch parts of this film in 3-D, you will also feel as though you are in it. This 20 minute experience is something that can’t be missed during your visit.

If you feel like you are going to be trapped in doors this holiday season due to the rain, make a day out to the Vancouver Aquarium, it is a fun way to spend the holidays on a date, with friends or with your family.
