Flour Recall Across Canada
The recall concerns PTI brand Besan Chick Pea Flour. According to the CFIA, it was found to have the “presence of insects”, which is why it is being pulled off the shelves.
The notice also notes that the recall is categorized as a Class III. This identification system divides recalls into three different classes, with Class I having the highest risk. Since this recall is a Class III,
“there is a low risk that consuming the food may result in any undesirable health problems. This class also includes food that do not pose a health risk, but that do not comply with legislation.”
The affected products were reportedly sold online and in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.
