Reclaiming the Canadian Dream

As I speak to families across Vancouver Granville, I hear the same story over and over: hard-working Canadians who did everything right—studied, saved, worked overtime—yet still can’t afford a home in the community they love.

The Trudeau-Carney Liberals have turned the dream of homeownership into a fantasy. In Vancouver, the average home price has soared to nearly $1.2 million. Today, you need to earn over $243,000 just to qualify for a mortgage. Ten years ago, it took 39% of a family’s income to cover homeownership costs. Now it’s 60%. That’s not just unaffordable—it’s unjust.

Pierre Poilievre and the Conservative team have a plan to fix it.

We will eliminate $8 billion in ineffective, bureaucratic housing programs and replace them with real solutions that work. Our plan cuts the federal tax bill for homebuyers by up to $65,000—money that stays in your pocket, not Ottawa’s. We’ll build 36,000 more homes a year and work with municipalities to speed up permits and lower development charges so builders can get shovels in the ground faster.

We will also stop the dangerous cycle of taxpayer-funded drug sites operating without proper oversight. As a mother and long-time resident of this riding, I believe we must offer hope—not enable addiction. That’s why we’ll invest in treatment centres with a proven track record of recovery, while banning open drug use near schools, parks, and seniors’ homes.

And to help Canadians invest in our future, we’ll launch the ‘Canada First TFSA Top Up’—allowing you to put an extra $5,000 a year into your TFSA when you invest in Canadian companies that employ Canadian workers.

The last decade has been a lost one for too many Vancouver families. It’s time for a new path—one that restores the promise of homeownership, ensures safe communities, and rewards hard work.

Let’s bring it home.
