Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” is a phenomenon.
The hit song has broken several industry records, including the record for most weeks spent at the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 this week.
“Old Town Road”, specifically the unique country-rap remix feeling Billy Ray Cyrus, also now holds the record for the Streaming Songs chart’s longest leader, at 17 weeks, surpassing hits like “Despacito” and “Rockstar.”

Old Town Road, Sicamous, B.C.
Sicamous, a town located about half-way between Vancouver and Calgary, has felt the phenomenon in a very unique way.
The small town has seen not one, but two, of their street signs stolen recently. Both street signs belonged to the same street: Sicamous’ Old Town Road.

“First people were having their picture taken underneath it. And then the next you know, the sign is missing”, said Sheila Devost to Global News.
However, the charming resort town then realized that they could turn this into a positive thing for the community.

What did Sicamous decide to do about the situation? They decided to sell Old Town Road street signs.
Talking to CBC, Mayor of Sicamous Terry Rysz said: “If you want one of these signs, rather than stealing it, we’ll sell you one. It’s a wonderful way of dealing with a negative and turning it into a positive, and at the same time, it’s promoting our community.”
