YVR Named Best Airport In North America For Twelfth Straight Year

For the twelfth straight year, Vancouver International Airport has been named the best airport in North America by Skytrax.

Back in 2017, YVR broke the record with its historic win of being the best airport in North America for eight consecutive years.

This annual ranking looks at the overall travel experiences across different performance indicators, and has over 100 customer nationalities participate in the survey.

Globally, YVR is ranked as the 24th Best Airport in the world in 2021; this is a drop from 13th place in 2020.

Some of the other customer survey topics covered include:

Getting to and from the Airport, Ease of Access
Public transport options, efficiency and prices
Taxi availability and prices
Availability of luggage trolleys (airside & landside)
Terminal comfort, ambience and design

YVR finished 2nd on the list for the Cleanest Airport in North America, after Toronto Pearson, and 4th on the list for the Best Airport Staff in North America, dropping slightly from previous years.

Vancouver also won an award for COVID-19 distinction, along with several other airports. As this year’s survey, also included questions related to COVID-19 standards. Including questions on signage, face mask enforcement, visibility and availability of hand sanitizer, social distancing, hygiene procedures and overall cleanliness.

Best Airports in the World 2021

After leading the ranking for years, Singapore’s Changi Airport dropped to third place, and Hamad International Airport located in Doha, Qatar rose to 1st.
