Rainbows, floats and pride, oh my!
Sunday, August 5th marks the highly anticipated 40th Annual Vancouver Pride Parade. This just may be the biggest year yet of the vibrant festival celebrating the LGBTQ community and its allies.
Last year the event gathered more than 650,000 people together and this year will be no exception.
Check out some of the best spots in the city to take in all the festivities the pride parade has to offer.
Robson & Thurlow Street
The parade kicks off at noon on Robson & Thurlow Streets. Arrive early to get a good spot and watch all the action unfold right before your eyes.
If you don’t want to be right at the start of the parade, nab a spot along Denman Street as the parade will be going down here with a plethora of colourful floats.
The parade will wrap up near Sunset Beach, where the celebration will be followed up by the free Sunset Beach Festival. This may just be the best spot to take it all in as you get the best of both worlds. There will be live music, beer gardens, vendors, stunning waterfront views and much more.
If you’re lucky enough to live in the West End (or have a friend that does), watch the parade from the patio. It’s a less crowded and more private option that allows you to throw your own pride party, what could beat that?
The English Bay location is the prime spot to enjoy a brunch buffet and take in the pride parade from their rooftop patio or lower deck.
