Concord Pacific teams up with Whistler Skating Club for winter activations and community skating events

Winter in Whistler feels a little brighter this season thanks to the Whistler Skating Club, which is rolling out three community-focused initiatives for locals and visitors of all ages. From free hand warmers to discounted skating fees to an annual show that fills the rink with energy, the Club is inviting the community to celebrate the joy of skating together.

The programs are supported by long-time community partners Concord Pacific and the Sundial Hotel, who have helped the Club grow its programming for the past five years. The Club’s holiday pop-up activation is located near the Sundial Hotel in the Upper Village, right where Zogs used to be, making it easy for families exploring the village to stop by and get involved.

Warm up in the Upper Village: Free hand warmers until January 2

Visitors can stop by the Whistler Skating Club’s festive activation in the Upper Village to pick up free hand warmers until January 2, from 2 pm to 4 pm (closed January 1). The initiative was kick-started this season with an $11,000 donation from Concord Pacific, helping the Club bring a small but meaningful comfort to anyone wandering through Whistler’s wintery village.

It’s a simple way to encourage families to explore the area, discover the Club’s programs, and stay warm during holiday events.

Learn to skate together: 50% off Skate Canada fees for all generations

The Whistler Skating Club is also offering 50% off Skate Canada fees for local residents. The discount applies to everyone, seniors, kids, parents, grandparents, and families who want to learn to skate together.

This multi-generational focus has become a defining part of the Club’s mission. For five years, Concord Pacific has covered half of all Skate Canada fees for Whistler residents, making skating more accessible and helping new skaters of every age try the sport without financial barriers.

Starry Night Show returns February 26

The Whistler Skating Club’s beloved Starry Night Show returns on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Meadow Park Sports Centre. Doors open at 4:30 pm, and the show begins at 5:00 pm. Tickets are $5 each, and the event supports the Club’s programming for the year ahead.

The annual showcase is the Club’s largest fundraiser and brings together families, friends, and the broader community to cheer on Whistler’s young athletes. Proceeds help fund production costs and expand training opportunities for new and returning skaters.

Ben Thomas, President of the Whistler Skating Club, says the event is central to their mission. “The Whistler Skating Club is proud to be part of the community, teaching skaters of all ages how to skate. Each year, the Club hosts its annual Starry Night Skating Show, its largest fundraiser and a special opportunity for skaters to showcase the skills and passion they’ve developed throughout the season.

This year’s show takes place on February 26 and brings families and community members together to celebrate local athletes. Funds raised help support the production of the show and help create more opportunities for both existing skaters and new athletes looking to learn how to skate.

The Club is grateful for the continued support of Concord Pacific, whose generosity helps make this beloved community event possible year after year.”

A community tradition that keeps growing

From supporting athlete development to creating welcoming spaces for residents and visitors, the Whistler Skating Club continues to be a cornerstone of winter life in the resort community. The Club’s programs are shaped by volunteers, families, and partners who believe in keeping skating accessible and fun for all ages.

With free hand warmers in the village, discounted fees for locals, and a dazzling show on the horizon, this winter is the perfect time to get involved or give skating a try for the first time.
