If you’re planning to visit Victoria this summer, you might want to mark your calenders for Sunday, June 21, the city’s first-ever Car Free day festival.

The all new 1-day festival will take over six blocks along Douglas Street and close off all vehicle traffic from 12:00pm – 6:00pm. The community powered event will offer over 200 vendors and exhibitors, as well as live music, and public markets.
The Downtown Victoria Business Association, organizers of Car Free day Victoria add that the event will be an inclusive celebration showcasing the best of what Victoria has to offer. They also mention that the event is inspired by the success of Car Free day in Vancouver – which is now in its 10th year.
So if your Father’s Day celebrations include visiting the 2-5-0 this year, it might best to leave your car at home and enjoy the island festivities.
