Metro Vancouver Weather Forecast
Following a relatively mild first half of winter, a “transition to much colder conditions will begin Saturday night over the South Coast”.
Cold Arctic air is currently pushing southwards across the interior of the province and is expected to arrive Saturday night or early Sunday. The cold air will persist into the latter half of next week.
Temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees below seasonal averages, making for the coldest conditions seen this season.
With the cold air in place, incoming moisture on Sunday will produce a mixture of rain and snow.
Local accumulations will be possible, particularly over inland locations, however amounts are expected to remain light.
Additionally, cold blustery conditions are expected through the mainland inlets and the Fraser Valley on Sunday.
As a result, it appears the early blooming daffodils and cherry blossoms will need to take a hiatus.
