Festivals + Events in Vancouver: Weekend Road Closures
Gastown Sunday Set

Every Sunday from July 5 to September 6, Gastown’s Water Street goes car-free to celebrate Gastown Sunday Set. This summer series festival transforms Water Street into a stage, gallery, patio, dance floor, and open-air playground to host a variety of fun events.
Don’t expect to be able to drive down Water Street this Sunday as the space shifts into pedestrian-only access from 12:00pm to 8:00pm.

lululemon SeaWheeze

For the first time in six years, the lululemon SeaWheeze is back with a two-day celebration and a half-marathon. With any major sports event like this, motorists should expect road closures to assure the safety of the runners.
The impacted areas include downtown Vancouver, the waterfront, False Creek, Kitsilano, and English Bay throughout the morning of August 8. You can check here for the specific road closures since there are a fair number that will be closed off during the run.

Light Up Chinatown!

It’s the sixth annual Light Up Chinatown! This massive festival is a free, two-day outdoor celebration with live performances, delicious food, and tons of pop-ups located throughout the neighbourhood.
The festival will be shutting down 500-block Columbia St., as that’s where the party is taking place. Although, Keefer and East Pender Streets will remain open for cars and public transit.

Pleasant Day Festival

A feel-good, East Van block party with live music, local eats, public art, and interactive installations along Pleasant Street. Low-key and neighbourhood powered, this one’s for the Mount Pleasant locals.
Drivers should note, though, that the festival will be shutting down Main St. from 16th to King Edward Ave. from August 8 starting 6:00am until August 9 at 1:00am.
