Tony Hawk will be returned to Vancouver this past Saturday, to greet fans and perform for a new generation of fans at Hastings Skatepark. Hawk remembers Vancouver very well, way back when he was 18 years old, and came here to step onto the half pipe at Vancouver’s Expo ’86!
Tony claims that it was one of the biggest crowds he’s ever skated in front of. The Transworld Skateboard Championships Hawk took part of, were the first of it’s kind on an international level. Hawk won the pro half-pipe finals at Expo, surprising no one, and took second place in the bowl competition. By the age of 25, Hawk competed in over 103 pro contests, where he won 73 of them, and placed second in 19, which is very impressive in our books, and has yet to be matched by anyone!
Now that Hawk’s back on Vancouver land, he remember’s our city very well, noting that much hasn’t changed one bit! He remembers the expensive living, impeccable variety of food, and of course the amazing lands of water that surround us, where he claims he spent a lot of time back in the day!
