The Vancouver Grizzlies were only in our city from 1995-2001 and were known as one of the worst teams in the league. They were struggling to sell tickets, however, when Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls visited for a regular season game, attendance was at an all time high.
This was Michael Jordan’s first visit to Vancouver. The Chicago Bulls were having a phenomenal year (72-10) but ironically found themselves trailing the Vancouver Grizzlies in the fourth quarter. With only half a quarter to go, Grizzlies guard Darrick Martin began barking at Jordan. Jordan replied by talking some trash of his own and going on a 19 point tear in the final 6 minutes resulting in the Bulls beating the Grizzlies 94-88.
