The new brand new and highly anticipated UBC Student Union Building (SUB) also known as “the nest” has officially opened doors on campus.
After recent delays, students and the public are finally able to walk into the brand new $107 million energy efficient building.
The new SUB is 50 percent larger than the previous SUB and is designed to meet the needs of UBC’s current student population, which stands at 40,000+ students. Operated by the AMS, the state-of-the-art building sits at 250,000 square-feet in size, with 40,000 square-feet dedicated towards food vendors and retail. In addition, there will also be a rock climbing wall, a rooftop kitchen, and a theatre.
The SUB is located at 6133 University Blvd, Vancouver and operates from 7:00am-11:30pm. Beginning in September, building hours will be extended to midnight.
