Surrey Mayor Wants To Create Helicopter Commute System

While Vancouver is rolling out bike share programs and scooter services, Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner is requesting an alternative way for residents in Surrey to travel—by helicopter.

The addition of helipads across Surrey would provide those who can afford it to fly from Surrey to Vancouver, Kelowna or Victoria.

Hepner announced last week that the City has been in contact with private helicopter companies to potentially create a network of helipads across Surrey.

Surrey has grown immensely over the years and currently has the second largest population in BC, right behind Vancouver.

Hepner mentioned with the amount of people commuting from Surrey to Vancouver by car or transit everyday, they should have another option.

She added that she hopes construction will be well under way by this time next year.
