You may want to stay indoors this upcoming weekend.
A special weather alert was issued early this morning for the following areas:
- East Vancouver Island
- Fraser Valley
- Greater Victoria
- Howe Sound
- Inland Vancouver Island
- Metro Vancouver
- Southern Gulf Islands
- Sunshine Coast
- West Vancouver Island
Environment Canada reported that “a series of powerful October storms will approach the BC South Coast late Wednesday night bringing heavy rains and strong wings through the weekend.”
There will be an estimated 200mm+ of rainfall for West and Inland areas of Vancouver Island, with over 100mm expected for the inner coastal locations.
Here’s what it will look like in metro Vancouver this week:
Winds may reach up to 80km/hour at peak times during the storms.
