Storm Damage Forces Temporary Seawall Closure In Stanley Park

Storm Damage Forces Temporary Seawall Closure In Stanley Park

This weekend’s past storm has left behind some damage, especially along the Stanley Park seawall between 3rd Beach and Lions Gate Bridge.

Vancouver Park Board officials have announced the damaged portion will be closed indefinitely after a large portion of the seawall collapsed due to wind and wave damage.

According to the park board, up to 12-metres of the outer wall and cap collapsed and felt into the ocean and was ultimately swallowed by the strong waves.

Park board staff are currently assessing the damage, and will begin repairs immediately. There’s no official word on how long the process will last.
