June 1 marks the first day of Starbucks serving beer and wine in Vancouver.
A year after launching alcohol in Ottawa and Toronto, Starbucks has debuted its bar menu at its newly opened “Starbucks Reserve” shop in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant.
According to Starbucks, customers will be able to select from six different types of wine, two different beers, and a cider. In addition, the shop will also serve multiple snacks including goat cheese flatbread.
Before dropping in for a boozy morning brew, it’s important to note the bar menu will only be available from 2:00 p.m. to close on weekdays, and from 12:00 p.m. to close on weekends.
The move to serve beer and wine in store is part of Starbucks’ strategy to attract more customers in the late afternoon and evenings.
At this time, Starbucks says it has no plans to serve alcohol at any other Canadian cafes.
