Don’t let the snow stop you from exploring this winter! Strap on your snowshoes and head outside with some of these beautiful snowshoe trails in BC.

Snowshoe Trails In BC

Black Mountain

This 7km intermediate trail on Cypress Mountain typically takes a 2.5-hour round-trip. Be warned: the steepness at the start will get your pulse racing! But after about 30 minutes, the trail eases out up to the summit. Take in the fresh mountain air and appreciate the incredible panoramic views over the Howe sound. Then head back to warm up and reward yourself with a hot chocolate in the lodge.

Blue Grouse Loop

Make it a day out and hop in the gondola to enjoy all the delights available at the top of Grouse Mountain. New to snowshoeing? Try the Blue Grouse Loop snowshoe! This is an easy green trail only 1km in length. Or if you’re more experienced, challenge yourself to the gruelling 4.3km Snowshoe Grind which climbs 215m.

The best bit? You get to enjoy the great views while the gondola does all the hard work of getting you uphill. (Grouse Mountain is open for the season now, BTW!)

4 Lakes Trail

If there’s been a lot of snowfall, then this charming rainforest loop trail is a great option to check out. It’s an easy 6km snowshoe to explore Alice Lake, Edith Lake, Fawn Lake and Stump Lake, which will take about two hours to complete.

Zoa Peak

If you have time to explore a little further afield, we recommend escaping the crowds and heading over to Coquihalla Summit Recreation Area. This is located 2 hours away from Vancouver, off the Coquihalla Highway. This area is known for its brilliant snow conditions, so if fresh powder is what you’re seeking then this is the one for you. Beware: At 11km in length with an elevation gain of 635m, this trail’s not for beginners.

Joffre Lakes

Known to be one of the most popular hiking day trips from Vancouver to witness these stunning glacier blue lakes, not many people consider venturing to Joffre for snowshoeing. But on a clear day, this 11km round-trip trail is up there as one of the best places to escape and experience some magical powder.

Plus, if you’re not feeling too energetic, the view from the closer second lake is still well worth the trip.
