One sign summer is fast approaching is the number of night markets rolling out their welcome mats.
Among others, the Richmond Night Market is one of the most iconic events of the summer. It features 200 retail stalls and over 500 choices of food.
This year, they’re looking to expand their summer success into the winter.
Following their 2017 summer campaign, the Richmond Night Market has plans to host another major event this year: Winter Magic.
Event details remain scarce, but the event is already being promoted at the summer night market. According to sources, one of the event organizers stated Winter Magic is expected to be 3 times larger than Enchant at a recent vendor’s orientation, which most will remember as one of Vancouver’s hottest attractions last winter.
Given how large the night market is, and the successful hype surrounding last year’s Enchant Light Maze and Market, it makes perfect sense that the Richmond Night Market would want to compete in this space, albeit in a different season.
The new Winter Magic event may not be the only change for this night market. According to reports, organizers are not expected to renew their lease for the space after 2017. In addition, construction in the Bridgeport area may force the night market to move regardless.
Whatever the outcome, Winter Magic sounds like an enticing addition to Richmond’s annual winter attractions.
