You might see some traffic delays this weekend, as well as a bunch of bicycles. Coming soon is GranFondo 2026, a Sea to Sky bicycle ride that will take cyclists all the way from Vancouver to Whistler.

Except, if you’re not participating, then you’ll be dealing with the traffic.
Sea to Sky Highway Traffic Advisory
With GranFondo 2026 coming up on September 12, you can expect to see over 5,500 cyclists cycling along the roads. Potential delays may occur from 5:30am to 4:00pm between Stanley Park, through the Lion’s Gate, through West Vancouver and Squamish, to Whistler, so it’s best to know where the event will be happening throughout the city– and out of it.

The RBC GrandFondo website states that you should, “Expect significant delays and changing traffic patterns in both directions between West Vancouver and Whistler… with the heaviest impacts moving north through the corridor as the event progresses.”
You can find all the traffic changes and detours for Metro Vancouver on the RBC GrandFondo website, but here are some of the highlights:
- Stanley Park and West Vancouver: approximately 5:30 a,. to 9:30 am
Major impacts include the northbound Lions Gate Bridge closure, Taylor Way closure, Marine Drive restrictions and the Highway 1 eastbound closure. - West Vancouver to Squamish: approximately 6:30 am to 12:30 pm
Expect lane shifts, counterflow traffic, reduced speeds, temporary traffic stoppages and restricted access at some communities and intersections. - Squamish to Whistler: approximately 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
Expect Highway 99 lane closures, reduced speeds, temporary traffic stoppages and local access restrictions. Callaghan Road will be closed from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm
