Quentin Tarantino To Screen ‘The Hateful Eight’ Exclusively In Vancouver

Quentin Tarantino’s latest violent drama is the American western The Hateful Eight. The film, written and directed by him, is shot exclusively on 70mm film with anamorphic lenses for an ultrawide aspect ratio. The story is set in post-Civil War Wyoming where a fugitive, bounty hunters, strangers and a blizzard cross paths.

A lot of news surrounds the film, good and bad. Ennio Morricone composed the score making it his first western in 40 years. Cinematographer Robert Richardson returns to work with Tarantino (Kill Bill, Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained) and films in 70mm film. After Tarantino’s comments on police brutality at a Black Lives Matter rally, police groups have encouraged members to boycott the film.

The film screens exclusively at The Park Theatre in Vancouver on Christmas Day and releases everywhere on January 8th.
