After five long years behind bars in America, Marc Emery also known as the “Prince of Pot” has been given the “green” light to return home this week.
An immigration official revealed the news late last week which was later confirmed by Jodie Emery Marc’s wife) on Twitter Friday August 8:
“BREAKING NEWS: Marc was told by an Immigrations & Customs Enforcement officer that he’s coming home next week!”
Vancouver resident Marc Emery was extradited back in 2010 on American charges for selling marijuana seeds in the states from his own mail-order company. Emery later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture marijuana and sentenced in Seattle. The U.S. government labelled Emery as the “largest supplier of marijuana seeds in the U.S.”
Emery’s arrest and jail time has been a big blow to the legalizing marijuana movement in BC. Emery blames the Conservative government for his incarceration and has vowed political revenge.
Marc and Jody Emery plan to hold a press conference in Vancouver on August 17.
