Surveillance Footage Captures Man Involved In Fake ICBC Injury Claim (Video)

ICBC has released footage that shows an attempted case of fraud.

The incident, which took place in the Lower Mainland on October 26th, 2017, involves a man who says he suffered a fractured foot after being pinned underneath a vehicle for 10 to 20 seconds.

One of the drivers in this incident shared security footage with ICBC that disputes the claim.

The video shows a black van that was supposedly parked as the driver apparently goes to buy a ticket. However, after the driver gets out, the car reverses on its own.

The black van rolls backwards and collides with a white SUV and what happens next is what caught ICBC’s eye.

A pedestrian enters the right side of the video frame and places himself behind the front right wheel. He slowly gets up and limps away.

He later filed a claim, which he ironically abandoned shortly after ICBC recovered this footage.

ICBC contacted the man and criminal charges were considered. ICBC adds that had the man followed through with his claim, the Crown corporation would have likely pursued criminal charges.
