After 17 seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, Henrik and Daniel Sedin announced their retirement on Monday, April 2nd.
The twins wanted to enjoy the final three games of the season with fans rather than making the announcement after the season. Hence, they posted a letter to the public, stating that their 18 years in Vancouver were the best of their lives.

We’re saying it now because we want to share these final three games with you. We also want to share these games with our families, friends, teammates, coaches, trainers, staff and everyone at the Canucks who have supported us. You’ve all been with us every step of the way, and we want to thank you
They add that they want to be present in their families’ lives. Specifically, they state how they want to be present at all their children’s hockey games, horseback riding lessons, and birthday parties.

Henrik and Daniel Sedin’s Heartfelt Letter
“We started the year with the mindset that a decision would be made in the postseason. But it became clear, after discussions with our families throughout the year, that this will be our last season…” https://t.co/hOhtj2kTLM

The Sedins were drafted second and third overall in 1999, and are two of the most recognizable Vancouver Canucks players. They are known in the city for their charitable contributions, in both countless hours of work as well as large financial donations.
Both twins also claimed the league’s prestigious Art Ross trophy: Henrik scored it in the 2009/2010 season, while Daniel earned it in 2010/2011.
