Granville Street is about to become one of Vancouver’s biggest dance floors. The Granville DJ Festival takes over the 1100 block of Granville Street this Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, giving the city one more chance to celebrate outdoors before summer winds down.
The fully licensed outdoor block party will run from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day, bringing together local DJs, festival-style staging, food vendors and multiple bars. Instead of keeping the party inside Granville’s clubs, the festival will bring the music directly onto the street.

General admission is free with registration. However, anyone looking to upgrade their weekend can head inside the Suntail Tequila Garden, the festival’s dedicated VIP section.
This year’s presenting partner is Vancouver-born Suntail Drink Co., the premium tequila cocktail brand known for its small-batch, micro-carbonated drinks. Its partnership gives the festival a distinctly local connection while placing the Suntail name at the centre of the weekend’s VIP experience.
A massive outdoor party in the heart of downtown
For two days, approximately 7,000 square feet of Granville Street will be transformed into an outdoor festival site. The setup will include a DJ stage, an open dance area, food vendors, bars, seating and shaded spaces. Organizers expect more than 500 guests each day, creating a street-party atmosphere in the heart of downtown Vancouver.
The musical lineup spans house, disco, hip-hop, Top 40, Latin, EDM, throwbacks and melodic tech. As a result, the sound will continue to shift throughout the afternoon and evening, giving guests something different with each set.
The festival is also designed as a larger Granville entertainment experience. Participating bars, clubs and restaurants will remain part of the action, while official afterparties will keep the celebration going once the outdoor performances wrap up. That means festivalgoers can spend the afternoon outside before moving into the surrounding venues later in the evening.
Inside the Suntail Tequila Garden
The Suntail Tequila Garden offers a more comfortable way to experience the festival without leaving the energy of Granville Street behind. VIP guests receive priority entry with no waiting in the general admission line, along with access to private bars, dedicated seating and separate washrooms.
Pass holders can also leave and return throughout the day, making it easier to explore the surrounding Granville venues before heading back to the festival. Meanwhile, the dedicated VIP space provides a place to take a break between sets without fully stepping away from the party.
The VIP pass also includes access to participating bars and clubs on Granville Street, plus entry to the festival’s official afterparties. Therefore, the upgrade extends beyond the tequila garden and carries into the rest of the evening. Single-day VIP passes are listed at $20, while a weekend pass covering both Saturday and Sunday is available for $35.
Capacity is limited, so anyone planning to use the VIP area should secure a pass in advance.

What to know before you go
The Granville DJ Festival is a 19-plus event. Although general admission is free, guests are encouraged to register before arriving because the festival has a limited daily capacity. Registration covers entry to the main festival area, while the Suntail Tequila Garden requires a separate VIP pass.
The party is scheduled to proceed rain or shine. Tents and shaded seating will be available, although guests should still dress for the forecast. Transit is strongly recommended, especially with the street closure and expected crowds. Yaletown-Roundhouse Station is approximately two blocks from the festival site.
