Hooey Sweater Dangerous

The Hooey sweatshirt from Texas may look cool, but Health Canada says they may be dangerous.

Health Canada issued a product recall this week, saying the sweatshirts’ drawstring may be a “strangulation hazard.”

“Drawstrings on children’s upper outerwear can become caught on playground equipment, fences, or other objects and result in strangulation, or in the case of a vehicle, the child being dragged,” stated the release.

Of course, it’s better safe than sorry, but isn’t this a possibility with all hoodies?

They are referring to 15 styles of the sweater for boys and girls in sizes XS to XL.

The sweater was made in China, but a brand in Texas has been selling it.

There have been 520 purchases within Canada, with 6,600 in the U.S. They were sold between September 2017 and October 2019.

As of November 1, there are no reported injuries, but the case for their danger still stands. The report suggests removing the drawstring from the sweatshirt.
