Calling all hiking enthusiasts!

North Vancouver’s arduous, yet rewarding, Grouse Grind trail officially re-opens for the summer on Thursday, June 21st.

Previously, the beloved trail opened to hikers on May 2nd; however, the early opening lasted for a brief, three week stint, and closed for maintenance on May 22nd.

Of course, the grind requires this maintenance in order to withstand the foot traffic over the course of the season. Specifically, the popular landmark expects roughly 500,000 hikers this summer alone.

Safety maintenance includes rock scaling, danger tree removal, step repair, and safety net replacement.

Now, aficionados may lace up their hiking boots for another sweaty session to the top of the mountain.

While people are happy about the re-opening, not everyone is thrilled about the price increase of the gondola.

Effective as of May 1st, the cost per person for the ride down is $15. Prior to this, the cost for a ride down was $10.

You can purchase your download ticket at Alpine Guest Services in the Peak Chalet which also offers full service facilities including food and beverage as well as a retail store (featuring a well-deserved “I survived the Grind” moisture-wicking t-shirt).
