GoodLife Fitness May Take Over Metro Vancouver Target Locations

GoodLife Fitness May Take Over Metro Vancouver Target Locations

The first thing that crossed the minds of Canadians when Target announced its closure last week was: who will replace them?

The U.S. based retail giant will be vacating 133 massive stores across Canada in the upcoming months which will provide opportunity for a new giant to come in. While many were crossing their fingers for Zellers, it turns out Goodlife Fitness may be the top candidate.

Earlier this week, the fitness club expressed interest in potentially taking over some of the spaces.

“The former Target locations provide spacious and convenient locations that would be an excellent space for people to achieve their fitness goals. When considering a business to take over some of the Target locations, GoodLife is a perfect partner because of our long-term success and our experience with this type of location” said GoodLife CEO David Patchell-Evans in a statement.

The company has plans to grow by over 350 new locations by the spring, and hitting the 400 club mark by the end of the year.

“We want our real estate and shopping centre partners to be healthy and successful too, so this would be a positive solution for all.” Patchell-Evans adds.
