In addition to Vancouver, the City of New Westminster is also making free salt and sand mix available to residents.
The sand and salt was made available for pick-up on Wednesday, and the city anticipates there is enough supply to last until Friday if residents obey the 1 bucket limit.
You can find the pile of salt outside the gates of the Engineering Operations work yard, located at 901 First Street, while quantities last.
Residents must bring their own shovels and small bucket/containers for pick-up at anytime.

According to the city, the salt stock will not be replenished until it has confirmed the delivery of its next shipment. Road sand remains available and will be continued to be replenished.
For safety reasons, it is advised you do not enter the works yard.
