The B.C. government has decided to offer free online textbooks for post secondary students who are taking any of the 40 most popular courses.
As to what courses those are, no information has been released, however this will be a huge saviour for students who pay their way in post secondary! It is believed that students spend about $900 to $1500 each year on textbooks.
The online textbooks will be free for students to view and also have to option of being printed! It is estimated that this service will cater up to 200,000 students next year. It is estimated that this program will however cost taxpayers anywhere from $600,000 to $1 million each year.
This new approach is yet another way B.C. is leading Canada in taking leadership roles towards putting technology to work for students!
