The Surrey Khalsa Day Vaisakhi Parade is returning on Saturday, April 19, 2025, celebrating the Sikh New Year and the formation of the Khalsa in 1699. As one of the largest Vaisakhi celebrations outside of India, this event attracts over 500,000 attendees each year, making it a must-visit cultural experience in Metro Vancouver. Also, a Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade will take place the week before on Saturday, April 13.

The parade begins at 9:00 AM from Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar Temple (12885 85th Avenue, Surrey) and follows a circular route through 124th Street, 75th Avenue, and 76th Avenue, before returning to the temple at approximately 5:00 PM. Along the way, expect elaborate floats, community performances, live music, and vibrant displays of Sikh culture and heritage.

One of the most beloved aspects of this celebration is the free food offered by local residents, businesses, and organizations. The Sikh tradition of Langar (community kitchen) means that visitors will find endless offerings of delicious vegetarian food, drinks, and snacks along the parade route—all provided as an act of selfless service.
This family-friendly event welcomes everyone to join in the festivities, learn about Sikh traditions, and experience one of the most lively and inclusive celebrations in Canada. Due to large crowds and road closures in the area, attendees are encouraged to take public transit or carpool when possible.
