With cherry blossom season in full swing, what better way to celebrate the beauty of the sakura tree than with a visit to the annual Sakura Days Japan Fair?
Come take in the rich culture of Japan with food, drinks, and performances in the beautiful VanDusen Botanical Gardens.
SAKURA DAYS JAPAN FAIR 2025
The Japan Fair Association of Vancouver has been presenting the Sakura Days Japan Fair since 2009, so it’s safe to say that this event is a staple of the VanDusen Botanical Gardens. From authentic cuisine to music and crafts, this fair offers family-friendly activities that encourage people to explore Japan’s culture.

Visitors can expect a variety of vendors that sell an array of goods. And while you walk around, performances will also be taking place on two different stages: the Cherry Stage and Floral Stage. You can find the scheduled performances on the Sakura Days Japan Fair website. They have a diverse range of performers to enjoy, and whether you like to watch traditional demonstrations or modern idol dance groups, everyone can see something they like.
And if you’re already embracing the season, local brand City Exclusive just launched a limited Cherry Blossom Season Collection. It’s full of clean, minimal designs inspired by Vancouver’s spring colours — perfect for layering up on those early April mornings or adding a little nod to blossom season without going full pink.

There are also many activities to take part in. While some do take place outside, there are a select number that will happen indoors. Things like a traditional tea ceremony, taiko drumming, theatre performances, and woodworking demonstrations can be found indoors.

And let’s not forget about the food! Japan is known worldwide for having some of the most amazing cuisine out there, so visitors can select from a multitude of vendors for all types of Japanese food. Try some okonomiyaki, or perhaps some curry pan while you’re watching the performances!
Sakura Days Japan Fair will be taking place rain or shine from April 12 to 13. April 12 begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. while April 13 begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. Tickets are currently available, so scoop them up now if you plan on attending!
