A Sasquatch, also referred to as “big foot”, may be lurking on a remote island off the coast of Vancouver Island. The mystery is slowly unfolding after several residents in Alert Bay have reported strange screams and howls coming from the town’s forest, reports CTV Vancouver Island.
Several islanders, including Mackenzie Mountain, have continuously heard the “eerie” sounds during occasions, and recorded them on his cell phone.
There’s been speculation that it could be a dog, or another animal, but residents of Alert Bay disagree.
“Absolutely no dog can make that kind of a noise with that volume,” Art Dyck told CTV, who adds he hears the sounds coming outside his home. Dyck also mentioned that the howls are unlikely coming from other wildlife, as Cormorant Island is not home to deer, cougars, or bears.
Residents of the island are convinced the sounds are coming from a Sasquatch, with some stating they’ve seen the beast.
“One person that’s seen it, her father lives in Alert Bay. She went up to the graveyard to pay respects to one of her family, and when she went up to the graveyard, she saw it standing there. She turned around and she got out of there right away.”
The recent sightings and stories have caught the attention of renowned Sasquatch investigator John Bindernagel, who has been searching for Sasquatch evidence for decades.
Ironically, British Columbia has the highest number of Sasquatch sightings in Canada, with 130 sightings reported since 1924.
