Early Tuesday, reports surfaced that the Vancouver Canucks plan to hire Travis Green as their next head coach.
The news comes two weeks after the Canucks let go off Willie Desjardins and his assistant coaches after an unsuccessful tenure.
Green has spent the last four years as head coach of Vancouver’s AHL affiliate in Utica.

In 304 games, Green has led the Comets to a 155-110-29 record. This included an appearance in the 2015 Calder Cup Final.
With this hiring, the Canucks hope that their young players can develop to a point where they can compete for a playoff spot.
Vancouver is coming off their worst season and 18 years and has missed the playoffs three out of the last four years.
The Vancouver Canucks are making a formal announcement Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.
