All summer | Tuesday Night Golf Clinics

The “Practice with a Purpose Golf Clinics” provides you with professional instruction tailored to your specific swing flaws and gives you something to work on during future visits to the range.

The cost for this clinic is $22.00 tax included. Each clinic is limited to 8 students and includes close to 90 minutes of range time, professional instruction and range balls.

June 23 | Scandinavian Midsummer Festival

Burnaby is holding a Scandinavian Midsummer Festival this weekend until June 24th. This year will mark the 23rd Midsummer Festival, filled with music, entertainment, and festivities.

The raising of the Midsummer Pole (including the dance around the pole) takes place on the Saturday. On Sunday, the Finnish wife carrying contest occurs, a race where you’re eligible to win your wife’s weight in beer.

Learn the traditional Japanese craft of Tsumami Zaiku, where you will make flowers using small square-cut pieces of cloth!

June 24 | Bonsor Sports Collectors Show

Come out to the Bonsor Sports Collectors Show on Sunday, June 24th. They have 60 Vendor tables and a fantastic selection for sports cards & memorabilia.

June 24 | Ride Don’t Hide 2018

Join the Hutch Fund team for a 60 km, 20 km, or 10 km bike ride and support our community in reducing the stigma surrounding mental health!

June 25 | Stand Up For Mental Health 2018 Winter Class Grad

Founded by award-winning counsellor and stand-up comic David Granirer, Stand Up For Mental Health (SMH) teaches stand-up comedy to people with mental health issues. This show takes a hilarious look at the lighter side of taking meds, dealing with addictions, seeing counselors, getting diagnosed, and surviving the mental health system.

Vance Joy performs at Deer Lake Park with special guests Scott Helman and Mondo Cozmo. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and the show begins at 6:00 p.m.

June 30 | Wedding Open Houses

The Wedding Open House events at the Burnaby Mountain Clubhouse and Riverway Clubhouse is a tour that shows their beautiful spaces, and allows you to learn about special pricing and promotional offers.

July 1 | Canada Day at Swangard Stadium

Celebrate the spirit of Canada Day by joining us for a free concert and fireworks display. We’re marking Canada’s 151st birthday with top-notch performances by Said The Whale, The Boom Booms and DJ Khanvict.

Other highlights include activities and exhibitors for the whole family, and spectacular fireworks for the grand finale.

July 7 | Caribbean Carnival Zumba ® Masterclass

This is an hour and a half masterclass featuring the Queen of Soca, ZJ Erica Dixon. Come join the party as we dance to the beautiful music of the Caribbean.

July 8 | Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Outdoor Concert

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will once again perform its annual free outdoor concert this summer in Burnaby.

It’ll take place on Sunday, July 8th at Burnaby’s stunning Deer Lake Park. Performances will start at 7:00 p.m. and will conclude at 9:00 p.m.

This annual concert is a huge community favourite and sees the orchestra play an absolutely outstanding program.

July 13 | Free Outdoor Movie Night

Join The Point for a free outdoor movie night under the stars! They’ll have games and popcorn, then enjoy the classical comedy “Shrek” on the big screen as soon as the sun sets.

Bring a blanket and some bug spray!

July 14 | Indonesia Fest 2018: Experience Indonesia

ndonesian Consulate General in Vancouver, in partnership with PERMAI BC, is pleased to host Indonesia Festival titled “Indonesia Fest: Experience Indonesia” due to be held on Saturday, July 14th, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The event will showcase Indonesian culture, tourism, food and product.

August 11 | Blues + Roots Festival

For the last 18 years, the annual Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival has been a highlight of the outdoor concert season in the city.

Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats are set to headline the festival. It takes place at Deer Lake Park on Saturday, August 11th.

August 15 | Shotgun Fun Night at Riverway

Come join the BCGolfPages Meetup Group for a shotgun start after work at Golf Burnaby’s Riverway Golf Course. The cost is just $35 and they play as many holes as possible before the sun goes down.

Ms. Lauryn Hill is celebrating twenty years of her anthemic debut solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill with a newly announced world tour.

The GRAMMY Award-winning artist will be performing in Burnaby as part of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 20th Anniversary Tour on Friday, September 14th, 2018. Her performance is taking place at Deer Lake Park.

July

July 1 | Surrey Canada Day Celebrations

Western Canada’s largest Canada Day celebration will take place in Surrey this year.

The Surrey Canada Day celebration is being co-headlined by Serena Ryder and Brett Kissel and will take place at the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre.

Hosted by Coast Capital, there will be an amusement park, food trucks, children’s activities, fun booths, live music, giveaways and much more happening throughout the day.

July 7 | Newton Days

Throughout July, Newton Days will be taking over the Newton Grove on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

It returns for a second summer complete with a farmers market, kid fun zone, face painting, food trucks, henna and Science World demonstrations. All four days will also have a BBQ serving up delicious bites.

July 14 | Surrey Pop-Up Junk Drop

The City of Surrey allows residents to dispose of their unwanted items completely free of charge at the Pop-up Junk Drop events.

In 2015, illegal dumping cost Surrey roughly $1 million. As a result, the city hopes that the events will prevent this behaviour.

To gain entry, however, you must present a valid government issued identification that proves you are a Surrey resident. No valid ID means no entry.

July 14 | Rugged Maniac

You’ll be able to take part in their 5k course or their new option called Rugged Maniac X. The new option includes unlimited laps of the 5k course and a special edition headband!

Not to mention, before and after you run you’ll get to party with thousands of other maniacs in our day-long festival which includes mechanical bulls, adult bounce houses, and tons of games and activities!

July 21 | Surrey Fusion Festival

Taking place on Saturday, July 21st and Sunday, July 22nd, it’s an opportunity for people to explore, see, and taste the world’s diverse cultures.

Both days will feature music, fun booths, kids activities, live performances, tasty bites, and much more!

August 4 | Outdoor Movies

The event takes place every Saturday in August, bringing entertainment to the park at 5 PM; however, the films begin at dusk, when viewing the films is easier.

Alongside the featured film will be live performances, so there’s never a dull a moment!

What’s more, the Downtown Surrey BIA states that the films are full of of humour, as well as heart-warming narratives. As a result, the evenings are a perfect way for families to enjoy a weekend evening.

August 11 | Clover Valley Beer Festival

Expect over 40 breweries and cider mills, a country rock inspired music line-up, local food trucks and guaranteed good times!

Not to mention, event organizers have partnered up with Twins Cancer Fundraising as their charitable partner. They will receive proceeds from ticket sales to support their amazing efforts towards cancer research.

August 25 | Battle of the Brews

battle of the brewsThe second annual Battle of the Brews will be held this August 25th at Surrey City Hall Plaza.

A great charity event, Battle of the Brews will include craft beer tasting, food sampling, and tunes provided by 102.7 THE PEAK.

September 8 | Bicycle Trek for Life & Breath

The annual Bicycle Trek for Life & Breath is an exhilarating 2 day, 200km ride along the rural roads of the Fraser Valley.

Lung warriors from all walks of life join together in the fight against lung disease.

Registration is $25.

New WestminsterStroll the beautiful riverfront walkway and shop over 40 handmade vendors outside and inside the market.

July 5 | Music By The River

The Arts Council of New Westminster in conjunction with Alex Jopson of City to Suburb Real Estate Group and the City of New Westminster are excited to be brining back MUSIC BY THE RIVER at Westminster Pier Park on six Thursday nights in July and August 2018.

Following the success of last year, this summer concert series will again take place against the Fraser River backdrop on Thursday nights from 6-8pm. Once again at the Eats at the Pier concession stand we will be serving drinks from New West’s own Steel and Oak Brewing Co. and Pacific Breeze winery.

Fridays on Front, an epic weekly community experience, is returning to New Westminster on Friday, July 6th, 2018.

The market will run every Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. for eight consecutive weeks (July 6th – August 24th) on the 600-block of Front Street.

This family friendly community experience will feature artisan vendors from New West Craft, live music curated by the New Westminster Arts Council, and of course, your favourite food trucks from the Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Fest!

July 7 | New West Craft Summer Night Market

The New West Craft Summer Night Market returns on Saturday, July 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Shop over 90 handmade vendors. outside on the Boardwalk at New West Quay and inside River Market. Enjoy live music, food + drinks and more!

July 14 | Disco Pub Night Cruise

Put on your dancing shoes and join us for a disco night 3 hour cruise on the Paddlewheeler. This 70’s themed pub night is sure to be a great turn out!

July 21 | Uptown Live Music Festival

The Uptown Live Music Festival returns to the streets of New Westminster on Saturday, July 21st, 2018.

Visitors can expect a full schedule of live concert performances, a Cariboo Beer Garden, delicious food trucks plus a host of interactive exhibits and art installations!

There are lots of interactive games and activities for kids located throughout the site plus craft and face-painting stations.

July 28 | Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Fest

The Downtown New West BIA has announced that the 6th Annual Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Fest is returning on Saturday July 28th, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

It’s the largest one day food truck fest in Canada, featuring 150 vendors, 6 beer gardens and live music along Columbia Street in historic Downtown New West.

August

August 1 | Celebration of Light Fireworks Cruise

Enjoy a delicious west coast dinner while the catamaran Beta Star takes you out into the Straight of Georgia as the sun sets, then around Point Grey and the University Endowment Lands and into English Bay. We then get into position to watch the Celebration of Lights fireworks.

Afterwards, they take you into False Creek, docking near Science World, where an International Stage Lines luxury coach awaits to drive you back to New Westminster.

August 4 | CarnaWest

CarnaWest is a festival aimed at promoting the rich heritage of Brazil. A feast of rhythm, dance, food, sports, arts, Brazilian DJ and a Beer Garden with our famous capirinha. It will be held on Saturday August 4th, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Westminster Pier Park.

August 11 | New West Pride Cruise

Come celebrate New West Pride with Paddlewheeler Riverboat Tours! There will be a DJ on board playing your favorites, karaoke, dancing, and of course, food & drink specials.

August 17 | Loverboy at Rock Ambleside

Formed in Calgary, Alberta, this group of rock stars toured with some of the biggest names in music including Journey, Bob Seger, Cheap Trick, ZZ Top, Kansas and Def Leppard.

August 18 | New West Pride Street Party

Taking place on Saturday, August 18th, celebrate pride and the LGBTQ+ community in New Westminster with an entire week of events and a full-scale Street Party on the weekend.

The New West Pride Columbia Street Party runs from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. along historic Columbia Street.

August 24 | Safe & Sound Music Festival

Hosted by Flipout, the festival will take place in August at Westminster Pier Park along the Fraser River waterfront.

There will be food trucks, exhibitor booths, and more.

General admission gets you entrance to the festival site, food truck area, and the main stage area. VIP (19+) gets you access + entrance to the elevated lounge and the private bar located next to the stage.
