Bus drivers face quite a bit of grief on their routes in Vancouver. From rude words to stubborn passengers, they face a multitude of unpleasantries.
This time, however, a passenger is facing jail time after her encounter with a North Vancouver driver.

Lakota Morningstar Kakakaway spat in the face of a driver on the 97 B-line in Coquitlam after she was ordered off of a bus for repeatedly swearing.
After she left the bus, the 22-year-old woman fled the scene in a taxi. The incident occurred in June of 2016.

Woman Sentenced After Spitting In Bus Driver’s Face
Now, a provincial judge has ordered her to serve two weeks behind bars as well as one year of probation.
Kakakaway cannot ride on any Coast Mountain Bus Company vehicle, and she cannot come in contact with the driver that she spat on in any way.
“It is gratifying to see the recognition from the courts regarding the serious nature of assaults on bus operators,” said Transit Police Chief Doug LePard in a statement.
