If you’ve always wanted to party at sea with your closest friends, then now is your chance. A BC Ferry is currently up for sale and it could be all yours.
The GovDeals.ca website is currently listing the Howe Sound Queen at less than $11,000. Built in 1964 in Quebec, this vessel may have seen its best days already, but for this price, you simply can’t go wrong.
The vessel is being sold to the highest bidder, and so far the highest offer is sitting at $10,751. Back in 2017, the Queen of Burnaby was also up for sale at a starting price of $6000.
BC Ferry For Sale
The Howe Sound Queen was previously named Napoleon L. and operated in Quebec until 1971. She was purchased by B.C. Ferries that year for $350,000 (Bannerman, 173).
Upon arrival on the coast, the Howe Sound Queen underwent a $250,000 refit and was then placed on the Bowen Island – Hoseshoe Bay route. It can accommodate up to 300 passengers and 52 automobiles.
This BC Ferry vessel has also seen some repairs done to itself. In 2007 and 2008, “the ferry underwent a major refit that focused on extending her service life and improving passenger amenities” states West Coast Ferries.
The vessel is currently in operation until the first week of June, where it will be removed from service and kept warm and in “operational state until ownership change”.
For those interested in placing a bid, the auction closes on Tuesday, April 30th at 5:00 p.m. ET.
