There’s nothing like heading out to a park on a sunny day. It’s a completely free activity that requires not much beyond a picnic blanket, good company, and some snacks from home.
Only, that trip to the park might not be so cheap as it used to be. Visitors looking for parking at this West Vancouver park will soon have to fork over some cash– unless they want a ticket.
PAY PARKING IN EFFECT
The District of West Vancouver recently announced on August 25 that they will be including Ambleside Park as part of the district’s pay parking program. Pay parking will be “implemented in all areas of the park, except where Squamish Nation is the rightsholder.”

“Pay parking will be in effect year-round, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week,” says the announcement.
HOURLY RATES AT AMBLESIDE PARK
If you are a resident of the District of West Vancouver, then you can apply for an annual parking pass at no cost. All you have to do is apply and provide proof of your current vehicle registration to a West Vancouver address.
For visitors, you’ll have to pay if you want to park. You will be able to pay through parking apps like hangTag and PayByPhone, as well as on the Impark website. QR codes are to be installed in the park, linking visitors directly to pay.
After tax, parking will cost $5.42 per hour, “including a 25% TransLink tax, and a $0.35 convenience fee.” The convenience fee is charged once per transaction, no matter how long you plan to stay.
But if your vehicle has a Veterans or Memorial Cross licence plate– or if your vehicle displays a valid accessible parking placard– then you are exempt from hourly parking rates.
These changes kick into effect on September 15, 2025. So, if you’re headed to Ambleside Park this fall, be ready to pay an extra fee.
