A Look at Burnaby’s Future Skyscraper

Standing over 550 feet above the ground, Altus, Appia Developments newest building, will be the tallest building in Burnaby. In fact, it will be the tallest building east of Burrard Street, just a few floors lower than downtown Vancouver’s Shangri-La.

Construction has begun on phase one, Stratus, at the future SOLO District development at the corner of Willingdon and Lougheed in North Burnaby. Work on phase two, Altus, will begin with a groundbreaking event on June 15th at 10am. When it is completed, Altus will be a mixed-use building with commercial units on the first 14 floors and 280 residential units from floors 15 to 48.

When SOLO District is complete, the community will be a bustling hub with more than 1400 residential units and approximately 3000 people living and shopping in the neighbourhood, injecting Burnaby’s economy with jobs, business opportunities and revenue sources for the city.

With Brentwood Town Centre SkyTrain station at the doorstep of this future development, Burnaby Mayor Derek Corrigan has lauded SOLO District as “among the largest and most exciting” of the projects planned for the Brentwood area.

Sales for Altus at SOLO District will start June 22nd, however, the public is invited to attend a public preview on Saturday June 15th from noon till 5 p.m.
