NASA released some satellite images of the BC wildfire smoke that were taken over a of couple of days and they look extremely dramatic.
The images were taken in a procession during August 1st and 2nd. They capture the smoke blanketing Southern BC and Washington in a thick fog, exposing the extreme nature of the weather.

While these images are astonishing from space, any Metro Vancouver resident can attest to the incredible amount of haze in the sky and the unpleasant smell in the air.
BC Wildfire Smoke and Pollution
Indeed, the level of air pollution has risen drastically as a result of fine particulate matter mixing with hot weather and creating toxic matter.
The City of Vancouver advises that, “Hot weather and poor air quality can pose health problems for at-risk citizens, particularly seniors, the homeless, and those with chronic health problems or who are socially isolated or reliant on caregivers.”
It is best to delay your strenuous outdoor activities until the weather clears up. Also, please keep in mind that these conditions are extremely hazardous. Fires may start very easily and become unmanageable very fast. Please consider the safety regulations put in place by the City of Vancouver.
