Expo 86 was a defining moment for the city of Vancouver, as it celebrated it’s 100th anniversary with a six-month party spanning from May 2, 1986 to October, 13, 1986.
The party was a celebration for metro Vancouver residents, and also a chance to invite the world to explore the many offerings it had to provide.
Expo 86 marked the second time a Canadian city held a World Fair (Montreal was first with Expo 67), and was listed a specialized exhibition to reflect on transportation and communications.
Below are a couple of the televised commercials that aired prior to the celebration, promoting and encouraging tourists to visit and join in on the festivities ahead.
