This new playground isn’t just for kids.
Oakridge Park has recently opened Wonderground, an immersive space that hosts an augmented reality game experience where your body is the controller. Your movements drive the entire game— jump, run, and play to keep the fun going.

Wonderground at Oakridge Park
Wonderground isn’t your average play space: it’s host to an interactive area that invites you to play and get moving with your friends and family with Augmented Games.
“Augmented Games turns the space around you into a responsive, tech-fueled play area.
No controllers, no wearables, no headsets. Just your body,” reads the Oakridge Park website. “Your movements drive the game, merging the thrill of live sports with the excitement of video games. A lineup of immersive experiences in one interactive playfield. Move. Play. Connect for real.”
The games are meant for everyone. Whether you’re the athletic type or prefer to be more strategic, there’s plenty of fun for all kinds of players. The difficulty levels also make your experience customizable for your group.

There are a total of seven Augmented Games you can try out:
- Grid: A two-team face-off across a virtual court. Bounce a ball and virtual racket and aim for bonus points.
- Target: Try to stay in your quadrant while collecting white dots and dodging the red ones. Watch out: the floor will start to rotate!
- Obstacles: Try to run across the field as many times as you can, grabbing bonuses and dodging obstacles in your way.
- Hotspot: Run from marker-to-marker along a lit path. Cross the finish line without missing a step.
- Polygon: Wield a virtual racket and deflect a rising wave of balls. Be the last one standing.
- Pathfinder: Memorize a path. Trace it faster and cleaner than your opponents.
- Memory: Watch the tiles, and remember their symbols. Find the correct symbol in time before time runs out.
How to Book A Spot
Sessions are around 45 minutes each and reservation-only, so you’ll have to book a spot if you want your friend group to play at Wonderground. You can find the reservation portal here, with experiences starting at $30.
Do note that the Augmented Games can welcome one to four players, with the exception of one game that has space for eight players. Players should also be prepared to do some running, so wearing running shoes and comfortable clothes are suggested.
Reservations can be cancelled up to two days before it starts for a full refund. No refunds will be issued after that.
Oakridge Park is located at 650 W 41st Ave, Vancouver.
