When Quesnel resident Richard Z. saw that someone won the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Jackpot with a ticket purchased in Quesnel, he decided to check his ticket. It was then that he found out he had won a major prize.

“The ticket was only visually validated,” said Richard. “I checked the BCLC website and had an inkling I may have the winning ticket. When it said it was the Gold Ball, that’s when the overwhelming feelings set in; knowing that out of everyone in Canada, I had the ticket that won $46 million.”

He shared the good news first with his wife. “At first, there were tears of joy. It was overwhelming!”

Richard has plans to travel to see the pyramids and “move forward slowly.” He says that winning “feels great. We want to live the life we live now and still want to keep our lives simple!”

The winning ticket was bought at Billy Barker Casino in Quesnel.

Other Lottery Winners

There have been plenty of other B.C. lottery winners this past year. Just recently, a Maple Ridge man was the lucky winner of a $1-million Maxmillions prize from the Lotto Max draw on October 9, 2026.

On his way to pick up a light bulb, Mehrdad P.’s route took him near a gas station. He decided to stop in, where he checked his lottery tickets with a self-scanner. It was there that he learnt he had just won $1-million.

And earlier this fall, a winning $32-million ticket was sold in Surrey but had yet to be claimed. About a week later, Surrey resident Amritpal S. was named the winner of the Gold Ball Jackpot from the September 19, 2026 Lotto 6/49 draw.

As always, if you’re going to play: know your limit, play within it.
