Winter is slowly approaching, and as the leaves fall from the trees and the wind gets chillier, everyone in B.C. knows that it’ll soon be time to bundle up a little more.
While the province’s winter forecast looks weirdly warm for the usually-cold season, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be like summer or spring: a Canadian winter is still pretty frigid. Regardless, snow could be coming for B.C., as per the latest Old Farmer’s Almanac’s predictions.

B.C.’s Coldest + Snowiest Periods This Winter
“Get ready for a wetter, snowier winter,” reads the Old Farmer’s Almanac’s Canada 2026-27 Winter Forecast under the B.C. section. “Northern parts of the region will run colder than normal, while farther south, temperatures are expected to be above normal.”
Precipitation is expected to be above normal, as is snowfall. The coldest periods are during late December, late January, and early February.

As for the snowiest times, you can expect that in late December and mid-January. Hopefully, that means we’ll be getting a snowy holiday season, but forecasts aren’t always one-hundred percent accurate. Environment Canada’s seasonal forecast prediction notes that the country looks like it’s going to have a relatively warm winter across the board, making the prospect of snow somewhat harder to imagine.

Notably, skiers and snowboarders may be disappointed about this year’s snowfall as below-normal snowfall is favoured for B.C. due to temperatures hovering above normal.
Still, winter is coming, and it’s sure to be cold no matter what. Grab your coats, gloves, and boots to prepare for the next upcoming season.
